Expect additional traffic notices as improvements continue

CLEVELAND – On March 19, 2018, S.E.T., Inc. will begin construction on the Detroit Avenue Streetscape II Project, weather permitting.  Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, utilizing temporary pavement markings, signage, and barricades. Pedestrian and driveway traffic will also be maintained at all times.

During Phase 1 of construction, the following traffic patterns will be implemented:

  • Detroit Avenue between West 78th Street and Lake Avenue/West 75th Street: One lane of vehicle traffic in each direction will be maintained.  Lanes will be shifted to the south side of Detroit Avenue while construction work takes place along the north side.
  • Detroit Avenue between Lake Avenue/West 75th Street and West 73rd Street: One lane of vehicle traffic in each direction will be maintained. The parking and bike lanes, on the north and south sides, will be closed to traffic, while construction work takes place along the north, and south sides of Detroit Ave.
  • Lake Avenue between West 78th Street and Detroit Avenue: One lane of vehicle traffic in each direction will be maintained. Lanes will be shifted to the east side, while construction work will take place along the west side of Lake Ave.

Phase 1 work is scheduled for completion by May 31, 2018.

The project will consist of streetscaping improvements of 0.38 miles of Detroit Avenue between West 78th Street and West 73rd Street and between West 58th Street and West 52nd Street as well as 0.10 miles of Lake Avenue between West 78th Street and Detroit Avenue. Improvements include new curbs, ADA ramps and drive aprons, decorative sidewalks and crosswalks, and new street lighting. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2018.
