Cleveland Animal Care & Control Offers Reduced Adoption Fees for Long-Term Occupants June 8-10

Thursday, June 7, 2018

CLEVELAND — The City of Cleveland's Division of Animal Care & Control is offering reduced adoption fees during its Summer Kickoff promotion in hopes of finding homes for CITY DOGS’ long term occupants. This weekend, the Division is focusing on finding permanent homes for those who have been in the kennel or a foster home for one month or more.

"We have over 85 dogs up for adoption and more coming in every day,” said Michelle Harvanek, Shelter Operations Manager. “We are focusing on our longest residents because they are ready to go - they’ve all been spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated, so they can go home the day of adoption and don’t have to stay in the kennel awaiting surgery. They’ve also been patiently waiting for their chance with a loving family.”

For these 35 dogs, the normal $61 fee is reduced to $21 from Friday, June 8th, through Sunday, June 10th.  Every adoptable dog is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and comes with a Cuyahoga County license. Normal adoption processes and policies will be followed. The remaining dogs may still be adopted this weekend for the regular $61 adoption fee.

Adoptable CITY DOGS can be viewed at or at the kennel, located at 2690 West 7th St., Appointments are encouraged. but walk-ins are accepted. You may make an appointment by emailing or calling the adoption hotline at 216-664-3476.The kennel is open for walk-ins 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, and appointments may be made outside these hours.

About CITY DOGS Cleveland

CITY DOGS is a program of Cleveland Animal Care and Control.   The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bull-type dogs who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.
