Division of Waste Collection and Disposal

This Division provides weekly collection of waste from 155,000 Cleveland homes, the West Side Market, Fire and Police Stations, the Justice Center, City Hall and other City buildings, and public areas.

It also places dumpsters at neighborhood events and community functions and plays an active role in special cleanup programs. Dumpsters are also available for commercial accounts and homeowners.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday to Impact Trash Pickup, City Hall Offices Closed January 21st

    The City of Cleveland Department of Public Works WILL NOT collect trash on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Waste collection for the remainder of that week will be delayed by one day. Cleveland City Hall offices, including Cleveland Public Power and Cleveland Water will be closed on that day as well. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 22nd.

    The City of Cleveland Division of Waste 2019 Bulk Pick-Up Calendar is now available online. In addition to bulk pick-up dates, the calendar includes information about proper waste set out.

  • About the Automated Waste Collection Program

    The automated waste-collection program is significantly efficient and user-friendly, and allows items to be recycled curbside.Through this program, residents receive sturdy garbage carts for trash and recycling which can be wheeled to the curb. The program also allows Clevelanders to recycle yard waste including grass clippings and branches.

Commercial Services Now Available

The City of Cleveland now offers dumpster and commercial waste pick-up services to area organizations.
