Assistant Director Michiel Wackers

Mayor Frank G. Jackson swore in Michiel Wackers at Cleveland City Hall for the position of Assistant Director of Community Development. 

Wackers has worked with the Department of Community Development since December of 2016 and has revised the block grant program, drafted the 2016 Annual Performance Evaluation Report, the 2017 Annual Action Plan and a new Department Manual. He has also increased the quantity and effectiveness of the department’s online tools and assisted with HUD findings and issues.

Prior to his work with the City of Cleveland, Wackers worked with the City of Middletown, Connecticut as its director of Planning, Conservation and Development. 

Wackers holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Studies from Elon University and a Masters in Political Science from the City University of New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Planning Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
